TPS technology - the revolutionary way of double-glazed windows manufacturing.

Now the most widespread and traditional way of double-glazed windows manufacturing is their assembly on the basis of metal spacers with two-phasic hermetic sealing. Process of double-glazed windows manufacture shares with use of a metal spacer on some basic operations: it is cutting of glass, it is cutting of a spacer, filling up of adsorbent in a spacer, drawing of primary butyl, premolding, drawing of secondary hermetic. All the listed technological operations demand significant, both labour and time expenses.

Aluminium is everywhere used as a material for manufacturing spacer at a traditional way of double-glazed windows manufacture . It is easy, is well processed, has high adhesion to applied hermetics, but at all above listed advantages aluminium has very essential lack - high heat conductivity 220 W/(m *K). This lack in turn causes a serious problem well-known to manufacturers of double-glazed windows and experts - a problem of " cold edge " (non-uniformity of distribution of temperature in the center and on edge of a double-glazed window as a result of application in a design metal spacer with high heat conductivity) Sketch 1. Destruction of glasses , a formation of a condensate , perspiration (freezing) of a double-glazed window begins most often in this zone,the condensate in turn destroys wooden frames, increases pressure in glasses as a result of a heat transfer on their surface in this zone. " The cold edge " has width of 62,5 mm, but has been noted, that this effect can extend on distance up to 150 mm from edge of a double-glazed window.

During long time technologists and researchers did not give up hope to improve the classical "know-how" of double-glazed windows. Heat-insulation properties of a window opening improved due to application of glass with a power-saving coating and fillings of interglass space with inert gases.

At the same time heat-insulation properties of spacers left desire to be better. And here in 1994 the first representation of technology TPS (Thermo-plastic-Spacer) held by firm Lenhard entering in concern Bystronic took place in cooperation with Chemetall GmbH which has developed thermoplastic hermetic.

Adsorbent filling оperation, spacer cutting, primary butyl drawing have been connected in one material in new TPS-technology – thermoplastic butyl spacer Sketch 2. Metal spacers are excluded from a new double-glazed window design. The butyl polymeric matrix with low heat conductivity (thermoplastic spacer) from polyisobutylene and a drier (zeolite) is used instead of them and it is moved on a surface of glass at temperature 160°C with the special printer.

The thermoplastic system of hermetic sealing essentially differs from traditional technology with absence of three technological operations: cutting of spacer, filling of adsorbent and drawing of butyl hermetic and only two materials are necessary as a barrier against penetration of a moisture and losses of gases is butyl hermetic for external hermetic sealing and polysulfide, as secondary hermetic.

The simplified technology has allowed to automate process of manufacturing of a double-glazed window completely. All industrial operations: washing, drawing of a spacer, filling with gas are automated and monitored by the specialized software.

In 2005 TPS technology of double-glazed windows for the first time has come on the Belarus ground. Gomelglass has begun a production-type manufacture of double-glazed windows by TPS technologies. It is necessary to note, that only two similar lines making double-glazed windows operates on a territory of the CIS countries .

Advantages of heat-insulating properties of TPS double-glazed windows in comparison with classical double-glazed windows.

A new thermally formed material forming intermediate space, improves heat-insulating properties of a double-glazed window and especially edges of an element as possesses very low heat conductivity. Improvement of heat-insulating properties of edges of the double-glazed window made by a new method, raises temperature of a surface of edges of glass. It causes to significant reduction of an opportunity of formation of a condensate by regional surfaces of an element. The measured value of factor (U) of a TPS double-glazed window on 8 - 10 % above, and the measured temperatures of regional surfaces in winter conditions on 4 - 6 % above than at a double-glazed window made on standard technology with application of an aluminium spacer.

Advantages of industrial process TPS technology.

A butyl middle containing a drier is made by thermal formation in the unique stage. It is of great importance at increase of efficiency of automation of manufacturing of double-glazed windows. The new method allows to make a spacer forming intermediate space, in one stage, both for double-glazed windows of the rectangular form, and for double-glazed windows of the any form. It is possible to make elements of double-glazed windows with two or three glasses, and continuously to vary width of intermediate space from 6 up to 20 mm by this method.

Other important advantage of manufacture double-glazed windows by TPS technologies is reduction of the involved floor-spaces as the quantity of the equipment established in the form of a compact line occupies considerably smaller square in comparison with a traditional method.

Advantages of qualitative characteristics of TPS-double-glazed windows.

One of a great number factors influencing on a quality and durability of TPS-double-glazed windows is increase of elasticity of a double-glazed window design. It is necessary to consider durability of connection of a middle framework forming intermediate space of a double-glazed window with glasses in interrelation with edge stretching, the increase in elasticity of TPS double-glazed window design causes to significant decrease of a damages occurrence risk caused by edge stretching.

Accurate external furnish of a double-glazed window is supplemented with the aesthetic appearance caused by superficial properties of a framework, forming intermediate space as thermoplastic the framework of middle reflects color of the frames surrounding a double-glazed window from the inside therefore the spacer is slightly stands out from a whole frame design of a window.

Recognition symbols of the manufacturer of an isolating double-glazed window are put by means of the jet printer on a surface средника, and on them it is easy опознать TPS a double-glazed window.
